Hi, my name is Angie, and on October 1, 2012, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. I’ve set up this site in order to blog about this new journey in my life. I am fortunate that the Lymphoma that I have is slow growing or “indolent” as it is also called. I may not need treatment for several years. On a day to day basis, my life has not changed. Luckily, I don’t have any symptoms. But a diagnosis such as this gives one pause to think about one’s life, wonder about the subject of mortality, and, ulitmately to examine one’s life.
Besides telling the story of my diagnosis, I would like this blog to be about the last phrase from the paragraph above – examining one’s life. There is a saying that says something about a life without reflection is not a life worth living. As I enter middle age, and with the diagnosis I received, maybe it’s the time in my life to reflect and examine. I have begun a new journey and I’d like to share it with you.
The title of this blog is “Every New Journey.” Although it sounds like a phrase, I think of it as the beginning of a sentence. For example, “Every new journey….begins with courage.” Or, “Every new journey….begins with curiosity.” Or, “Every new journey….begins with a willingness to be open-minded and positive.” There are many ways to make a sentence out of the phrase “every new journey.” Hopefully, as I make entries on this blog, I will find lots of ways to finish the sentence that are uplifting and that look to the future with empowerment.
